Teach the Child Initiative has formalised a partnership with the National Board for Technical Education to promote the National Skills Qualifications Framework and strengthen skills recognition for young people in rural communities across the Federal Capital Territory.
This collaboration supports the Employment Advocacy for Rural Youth project and focuses on helping youth understand how NSQF works, how they can gain certification for their skills, and how to connect these qualifications to real employment opportunities.
Through the partnership, Teach the Child Initiative will continue its NSQF media campaign, community engagements, and townhall meetings. NBTE will provide technical guidance, support community sensitisation, and help share accurate information on assessment and certification processes.

Pearl Utuk, Chief Executive, Teach the Child stated,
“In commencing this official partnership, Teach the Child Initiative is proud to amplify the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) which has been rolled out by the Federal government through National Board of Technical Education (NBTE)…The responsibility now rests with private sector stakeholders and the media to drive this message to the grassroots and facilitate optimal engagement of this public upskilling resource.”
Representatives of NBTE expressed that the partnership with Teach the Child Initiative aligns with their goal of expanding NSQF awareness across Nigeria. They noted that many young people already possess strong skills that deserve recognition. Furthermore, they emphasized that this collaboration will help more Nigerians understand the value of competence-based qualifications and how to progress through the NSQF system.

The partnership also reinforces Nigeria’s commitment to SDG 8 on decent work and SDG 17 on building strong partnerships for development.
